At home in the countryside around his Oregon home, rural Arizona, England, France, Ireland or Scotland, Michael Gibbons paints the landscape from nature “en plein aire”. Holding himself to truth or effect in atmosphere and light, his trained eye broadly generalizes, his imagination works with his hand, and the result embodies the truth of reality. In fact it is the interpretation of Nature into the more impressive language of Art.

Like many of my dedicated artist friends, what I was to do with my life was apparent to me as far back as I can remember. It wasn’t until my early twenties that inquisitiveness and crisis collided, giving birth to opportunity. At that point I could strip enough of other people’s expectations away to see clearly the path I was born for. Now, in my seventh decade, I am comfortable with my reason to be and with my life, I am.”
