Michael and Judy journeyed to Killmartin, a private estate near Inverness, Scotland, in July, 2006 to spend a month painting there and in Ireland, in County Tipperary. The purpose of the trip was to complete as many paintings as possible to present at a benefit show for New Avenues for Youth; a program for homeless youth in Portland. Upon arrival in the morning, Michael got right down to business and painted his first of 32 oil paintings which he completed by mid-August. “The vistas were magnificent; the people were friendly; and we had summer weather the whole time we were there”. The ‘Celtic Experience” in October of 2006, at the Private View held by Gottlieb Gallery resulted in the sale of 24 of the 27 paintings shown and New Avenues was delighted with the response and attendance. Michael and Judy are most grateful for this experience and with New Avenues great success in the work they do for the Portland youth.
