Museum Acquires Painting by Local Artist

"Barn on Elk City Road" goes to Hallie Ford Museum

"Watery Jewels" Limited Edition Print

Fund Raiser Donation

Known for his quiet painting "ennobling the common place" (quote by actor David Ogden Stiers), "Watery Jewels" is simply Michael Gibbons use of water in a field creating an intimate view of one of his favorite places. The field is just north of Yachats, Oregon between US Hwy 101 and the beach on the Central Oregon Coast. Gibbons will sometimes take students to draw and paint there as part of his desire to teach "how to SEE"; to separate the process from thinking about a specific subject; to FEEL the place where they find themselves.

This is a Limited-Edition Reproduction of 300. The "SR" preceding the number at the lower left of the image means "Supervised Reproduction". This denotes the artist was in attendance during the entire printing process to make any subtle changes in order to maintain the fidelity to the original painting; ie: particularly color integrity.

Michael has donated this lovely print as a fund raiser to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Newport, Oregon for their Holiday Bazaar, November 5, 9:00am - 3:00pm at 927 N. Coast Hwy. To bid on this please contact Susan Morrison at (541)765-2159. (The print is also available for sale in the Gallery)
