Traveling exhibition of "Estuaries and Quiet Places"The Oregon debut of "Estuaries and Quiet Places" opens with a champagne reception to meet the artist, Saturday, December 12 from noon to 5:00 pm in the Legacy Arts Terrace - School House at 151 NE Alder Street, Toledo, Oregon
Recently shown at the National Arts Club in New York City, this traveling exhibition, co-sponsored by the Yaquina River Museum of Art, consists of twenty paintings including the eleven small oils from which a 62” x 42” painting commissioned for the permanent collection of Mahonia Hall, the Oregon Governor’s residence, was created. Upon completion the studies, plus three more painted after the fact, were wrapped and stored. Painted in one estuary near Toledo, this is the first time to exhibit this body of work in Oregon. Six additional works from a private collection complete this phase of the presentation. The paintings will remain on display until April, 2010. ©2007-2010 Gallery Michael Gibbons |
A QUIET VOICE IN A NOISY WORLD Like many of my dedicated artist friends, what I was to do with my life was apparent to me as far back as I can remember. It wasn’t until my early twenties that inquisitiveness and crisis collided, giving birth to opportunity. At that point I could strip enough of other people’s expectations away to see clearly the path I was born for. Now, in my seventh decade, I am comfortable with my reason to be and with my life, I am.”
