Family History in a book

Book REVEAL of “Oregon at Work” 1859-2009 by Art Ayre and Tom Fuller

Governor Ted Kulongoski (inset photo lower right) spoke at the Capitol Rotunda Lobby Wednesday, April 8, 2009 to descendents of Oregon pioneer families featured in “Oregon at Work” 1959-2009, by Art Ayre and Tom Fuller, a 150th Anniversary of the State project supported and endorsed by the Oregon Employment Department, Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers, Oregon Small Woodlands Association and others. The Governor commended Ooligan Press, a Portland State University student run publishing house and students present were recognized for excellent work and collaboration with the writers and families to produce the history of working people in the state’s first 150 years. (Shown right to left in photo) Cousins Elmer Harris Taylor, Newport, and Michael Gibbons, Toledo, had family stories of homesteading, farming, logging and business entrepreneurship in the Mary’s Peak and Philomath area included and were present at the Reveal of the book.
