Don Prechtel, Artist in Residence at Yaquina River Museum of Art
A professional working artist since 1968 who lives in and maintains a studio at Creswell, Oregon, Don Prechtel was invited to a week long residency by the Yaquina River Museum of Art on March 23 – 31, 2009. During that time, Prechtel, an avid collector of antique western and military accoutrements, will paint in and from the Justice of the Peace Studio, a facility maintained by local artist Michael Gibbons for visiting artists. ©2007-2010 Gallery Michael Gibbons |
A QUIET VOICE IN A NOISY WORLD Like many of my dedicated artist friends, what I was to do with my life was apparent to me as far back as I can remember. It wasn’t until my early twenties that inquisitiveness and crisis collided, giving birth to opportunity. At that point I could strip enough of other people’s expectations away to see clearly the path I was born for. Now, in my seventh decade, I am comfortable with my reason to be and with my life, I am.”
