YRMA hosts Dave Masko, photo journalist

Dave Masko, wartime photo journalist, speaks of art in Bosnia

Yaquina River Museum of Art presents a talk by Dave Masko, photo journalist, on his experiences in art in Bosnia. Masko, retired U.S. Air Force, served five tours of duty in Bosnia before, during and after the war with the Serbs. He will share a story of a Bosnian artist and the art from that wartime. Dave will bring a photo feature story about art that survived after the war in Bosnia that he produced for the European Stars and Stripes Newspaper. From 2005 – 2008 Dave Masko worked as a Special Education (art teacher) for the Mapleton School District. He found art classes for both autistic and other students very important and rewarding and will speak on this subject as well.

Dave Masko came to the attention of Don Weller, chairman of the board of the Yaquina River Museum of Art, when Dave donated several classic art books for the library of the museum. The museum receives books for its collection and for re-sale to help fund art education programs in the community.

The public is cordially invited to Dave Masko’s talk at the Yaquina River Museum of Art, 151 NE Alder Street, Toledo at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 19. Seating is limited so please call the Gallery Michael Gibbons to reserve a seat. (541)336-2797
